Dear Friends,
On Sunday, June 19th, The Greensboro United Church of Christ is having a Juneteenth Celebration during their 10:00am worship service. Joining in this worship service will be the East Coast Inspirational Singers. Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. It is also often observed for celebrating African-American culture. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19 in various parts of the United States since 1865.
This is a wonderful opportunity to join with our brothers and sisters in Christ in advocacy for equal rights for all people and encouraging an end to racism. Because we know we are all made in God's image, we know we are united in God's love. Our United Church of Christ denomination believes we should all: "Reject Racism, Fight for the Powerless, Share earthly and spiritual resources, Embrace diversity, Love God, and Enjoy this life." Therefore, there will be no service at the United Church of Craftsbury on Sunday, June 19th. Instead we encourage you to join in this wonderful celebration in Greensboro at 165 Wilson Street and share in the joy of worshiping our wonderful God.
Peace and love,
Pastor Kim
